Ashley Tisdale Spreads HIV/Rickrolls to OMG Demographic

Christoph Malcolm on June 6th, 2008

You may have thought that the Rickroll had already been bastardized beyond belief, but there are always new and exciting lows left to explore. Actually, this may be the exception to that rule, because I honestly can’t imagine a more mainstream, commercial, and downright disturbing use of the meme than being sung by a Disney character to promote deodorant.

No, really. Ashley Tisdale has recorded a cover version of “Never Gonna Give You Up” exclusively for the loyal customers of Degree deodorant. “It Won’t Let You Down“.

The Internet — and by “the Internet” I mean /b/ — has responded in what I think is a fairly appropriate manner in this case, by launching a campaign to convince Ashley’s fans that she has HIV, and, just for good measure, flooding her website with pictures of crowning babies.

There has already been an official response from the Tisdale camp, denying her diagnosis and handing the trolls an early victory in the first round. Whatever the outcome of the fight, can we at least kill off the Rickroll at this point?

Random Salad is full of things much less interesting than this. Whether you've come to this page by a link or by voodoo sex magic, pay a visit to the homescreen before you go.

The sad thing about all Internet comedy bits is that they survive for years and years and years past their expiration date.

Forget being afraid of finding nude pictures that you took when you were 17 and a moron being posted on a website when you run for office; the real fear should be seeing “All Your Base Are Belong To Us” forwarded to you by your grandfather because “this is some funny shit.”

tl;dr - Rickrolling may well be here forever.

“We’re no strangers to love…”

Is it bad that every time I get Rickrolled or hit with any other internet meme, I find it even more hilarious?

Also: If you think “Never Gonna Give You Up” is amazing/terrible, go to youtube and watch “STUMP - Buffalo”. So much potential there.

Welp. I guess degree is now caught up to Dr. Pepper employing the Chocolate Rain kid for their commercials.

I guess that means we can look forward to the Numa Numa kid advertising chocolate bars or something.

Tay Zonday totally sold out though, Chocolate Rain could fit for some candy or something, but not some Mountain Dew or whatever it was.
However, I think Rick Astley would be priceless on a dating service ad.
